Everyone supports equality for persons with disabilities.  At least in theory.

In reality, millions of persons with disabilities around the world struggle every day with

INSTITUTIONS, GUARDIANSHIP, DENIAL OF THE RIGHT TO PARENTHOOD

This lecture series tries to deal with these 3 challenges, among the most painful in the lives
of persons with disabilities, and to suggest new solutions for them:

SUPPORTED DECISION-MAKING     LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY
SUPPORTED PARENTHOOD

We've added English subtitles to the first two lectures.

About

The Lectures

TALKING RIGHTS  is a cooperative initiative between Bizchut, The Israel Human Rights Center for People with Disabilities and the Disability Rights Clinic at Bar Ilan University, Faculty of Law in Israel.

During 2016 we filmed 3 lectures on the right of persons with disabilities to live in the community, to supported decision-making and to parenthood. The lectures were given to students working in the Disability Rights Clinic.  The lectures include a presentation of the current situation in Israel, the innovative new approach that derives from a rights based approach and practical and useful information.

The lectures are intended for persons with disabilities, family members,
professionals working in the field and curious members of the public.
